John Day is a lifelong resident of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. He has been carving since 1991 is now a full-time carver and instructor. He carves mainly Waterfowl but also carves Shorebirds, Songbirds and Birds of Prey. He makes everything from simple hunting style decoys to custom Competition grade pieces. Many of his carvings are in galleries along the East coast and in private collections throughout North America with some over seas, including Japan, Scotland and Germany.
He has won numerous ribbons along with several Best of Shows, including Best in Divers at the 2004 Ward World Championships. Twice his work has been in the prestigious Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art in Salisbury, MD and in 2006 a piece was chosen for the Ducks Unlimited Decoys calendar.
He has exhibited in the Easton Waterfowl festival since 1993, along with many other shows along the East Coast from Long Island to North Carolina.
